Zeitgeist!

So last night, we decided to try a place that had caught our eye sometime ago. Mainly because (interesting fact coming up…) the original pub (Known as the ‘Jolly Gardener’) was featured in the Brad Pitt film – Snatch. It has changed greatly since the year 2000 and is now a laid back German bar serving a range of German Beers and selections of Schnitzels and Bratwurst.

I was first to arrive and was immediately taken aback at how ‘roomy’ the bar was. I’m more used to a cosy pub with a roaring fire, this was much more modern, but still felt quite traditional. I was also impressed with the soundtrack they had blaring (a selection from the 80’s and 90’s).

I ordered my usual (Dry white wine) and the boy arrived swiftly after and chose from a selection of beers (the weakest being 4%!). Now for the food…

We decided upon Chilli con Carne chips and cheese and a sausage platter.

The portions were massive!

And the presentation was certainly… European.

Mash and a second portion of chips came with the sausage platter which seemed a little overkill…

It tasted great, the cheese stuffed sausage was a little rich according to the boy, but he did eat it mostly to himself. The smoked sausage was divine..

If you fancy an alternative meal out, a German pint, or just to hear some iconic music, go on down to the Zeitgeist!
